To participate in this program, you must have a 200 hour yoga teacher training and basic knowledge of yoga, postures, philosophy and meditation. The training is offered in person only. Some sessions will be opened up for continuing education credits as well.

  • Brain & Body Anatomy as it Relates to Stress

  • Listening, Communication & Teaching Methods

  • Restorative Yoga Training

  • Trauma-Sensitive Practices

  • Adaptive Yoga Practices

  • Business of Yoga & Ethics

Program Requirements

  • attend all training session modules, (or make arrangements to make-up missed hours)

  • be open and willing to consider and try practices offered; participate in discussions

  • complete all homework assignments

  • complete and log 10 hours of teaching new content/perspective with journal reflection.

  • minimum of 4 hours of attending additional workshops of your choice

  • schedule 2 - 30 minute calls with Joni to discuss progress/goals (spaced as you see fit, across the program)

  • volunteer assist 6 hours of advanced teaching (assisting a YTT or Continuing Education class)

  • final project: prepare and lead a 90 minute themed workshop

  • develop and journal about your own home yoga/meditation practice

  • read books on required reading list

  • complete assignments & quizzes

  • Science of Yoga by Ann Swanson

  • 30 essential Yoga Poses for Students & Their Teachers by Judith Lasater

  • Comfortable with Uncertainty: 108 Teachings on Cultivating Fearlessness and Compassion by Pema Chodron

  • Relax and Renew by Judith Lasater

Pricing includes the cost of the Friday through Sunday retreat (room & board) and a manual
(doesn’t include price of books):

  • payment plan: $400 per month for 12 months (monthly auto charge, credit card)

  • $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your space (applicable toward cost of training)

Healthy Body Peaceful Soul is a 300 hour Registered Yoga School. Joni Staaf Sturgill, ERYT-500, will be your trainer, along with educated, skilled and talented teacher Sterling Painton, ERYT-500, as well as other experts in their field: Sandy Rollo-Delong, Lisa Haslet, Emily Anderson, Karen Nagy, Brynn Daniels, and others.

An easy drive from any area of Pittsburgh, Sterling Yoga & Wellness Center is a beautiful, serene setting to study yoga from in the south hills of Pittsburgh. This 300 hour yoga teacher training will be held from 9:00 am to 5 pm on the dates listed below. This training includes a Friday evening through Sunday noon retreat. Fill out the Training Application here.
