This Program includes instruction on:

  • Hatha yoga postures, sequencing, alignment

  • Therapeutic techniques of gentle yoga

  • Relaxation and restorative yoga

  • Yoga history and philosophy

  • Breathing exercises

  • Mindfulness & Meditation

  • Positive psychology philosophy

  • Anatomy & physiology, including connections to brain health

  • Adjustments and teaching techniques

  • The art of communication

  • Introduction to the subtle body & ayurveda

  • Introduction to teaching to special populations

Program Requirements

  • attend all training sessions, 180 hours (or make arrangements to make-up missed hours)

  • be open and willing to consider and try practices offered; participate in discussions

  • complete all homework assignments

  • 4 hours of observing and/or assisting in a class taught by an RYT

  • 10 hours of volunteer teaching

  • minimum of 4 hours of attending additional workshops of your choice

  • develop and journal about your own home yoga/meditation practice

  • read books on required reading list

  • complete take home assignments & quizzes

This program is registered with Yoga Alliance.
Healthy Body Peaceful Soul is registered as a 200 hour School. Joni Staaf Sturgill, ERYT-500, will be your primary trainer, along with Edward Dinnen, RYT-500, Sterling Painton, ERYT-500, and Amy Jansen, RYT-500, as well as talented and knowledgeable guest teachers.

The 2020 YEAR LONG training will be held at the beautiful:

Sterling Yoga & Wellness Center
Located inside The Davis Professional Building at:
393 Vanadium Road Suite 201
Pittsburgh, PA 15243

An easy drive from any area of the city, Sterling Yoga & Wellness Center is a beautiful, serene setting to study yoga from in the south hills of Pittsburgh.
This 200 hour yoga teacher training will be held on one Saturday and Sunday per month in 2020, from 9:00 am to 5 pm. This training includes a retreat in June.

Retreat Weekend August 6-9 (Thursday 5pm to Sunday at noon, Olmstead Manor in Ludlow, PA)

In addition to the in-person sessions above, students are required to complete 4 hours of observing and/or assisting classes taught by an RYT, attend a minimum of 4 hours of additional workshops of your choice (related to yoga or meditation), complete 10 hours of volunteer teaching (5 hours can be friends and family, 5 hours elsewhere).

Pricing (doesn’t include price of books), but includes the cost of a Thursday-Sunday retreat (room and board) and your manual.

  • $2900 early bird price (December 1, 2019), cash or check

  • $3100 full price paid in full on first day of training, cash or check

  • payment plan: $308 per month for 11 months (monthly auto charge, credit/debit)

  • $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your space (applicable toward cost of training)
