This Program includes instruction on:

  • Hatha yoga postures, sequencing, alignment

  • Therapeutic techniques of gentle yoga

  • Relaxation and restorative yoga

  • Yoga history and philosophy

  • Breathing exercises

  • Mindfulness & Meditation

  • Positive psychology philosophy

  • Anatomy & physiology, including connections to brain health

  • Adjustments and teaching techniques

  • The art of communication

  • Introduction to the subtle body & ayurveda

  • Introduction to teaching to special populations

Program Requirements

  • attend all training sessions, 180 hours (or make arrangements to make-up missed hours)

  • be open and willing to consider and try practices offered; participate in discussions

  • complete all homework assignments

  • 4 hours of observing and/or assisting in a class taught by an RYT

  • 10 hours of volunteer teaching

  • minimum of 4 hours of attending additional workshops of your choice

  • develop and journal about your own home yoga/meditation practice

  • read books on required reading list

  • complete take home assignments & quizzes

  • The Wisdom of No Escape by Pema Chodron

  • The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Sri Swami Satchindananda

Optional (highly recommended) Reading list:

  • Relax and Renew by Judith Lasater

  • Wherever You Go There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn

  • The Bhagavad Gita (many translations, I like Eknath Easwaran)

  • The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

The 2019-2020, WEEKDAY, 9 month program runs September through May, on Tuesdays and Thursdays indicated below, from 10am to 1pm.

An easy drive from any area of the city, this beautiful community space affords both indoor and outdoor space to study yoga and mindfulness. A limited number of props will be available, so bring what you need to be comfortable.

  • Graduation ceremony May 14

In addition to the in-person sessions above, students are required to complete 4 hours of observing and/or assisting classes taught by an RYT, attend a minimum of 4 hours of additional workshops of your choice (related to yoga or meditation), complete 10 hours of volunteer teaching (5 hours can be friends and family, 5 hours elsewhere).

  • $2650 early bird price (August 1, 2019)

  • $2800 full price paid in full on first day of training (September 10, 2019)

  • payment plan: $350 per month for 9 months (monthly auto charge)

  • $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your space (applicable toward cost of training)

The 2020 YEAR LONG training will be held at the beautiful:

Sterling Yoga & Wellness Center
Located inside The Davis Professional Building at:
393 Vanadium Road Suite 201
Pittsburgh, PA 15243

An easy drive from any area of the city, Sterling Yoga & Wellness Center is a beautiful, serene setting to study yoga from in the south hills of Pittsburgh.
This 200 hour yoga teacher training will be held on one Saturday and Sunday per month in 2020, from 9:30 am to 5 pm. This training includes a retreat in June.

In addition to the in-person sessions above, students are required to complete 4 hours of observing and/or assisting classes taught by an RYT, attend a minimum of 4 hours of additional workshops of your choice (related to yoga or meditation), complete 10 hours of volunteer teaching (5 hours can be friends and family, 5 hours elsewhere).

Pricing (doesn’t include price of books), but includes the cost of a Friday-Sunday retreat (room and board)

  • $2800 early bird price (December 1, 2018)

  • $2950 full price paid in full on first day of training

  • payment plan: $300 per month for 11 months (monthly auto charge)
